About
About this project
This project provides insights into 'the State of the German Rail Network'. We are friends and passionate train travelers developing this web app in our free time. We are not affiliated with Deutsche Bahn or any of its subsidiaries.
We collaborate with Bahnvorhersage for raw data. Each month we process and analyze this data to extract key metrics, which are then visualized in this web app.
Metrics
Below you can find the definitions of the most important metrics used in this project:
- On-time performance: The percentage of trains that arrived on time. A train is considered on time if it was not canceled and arrived less than 6 minutes after its scheduled arrival time.
- Cancellation rate: The percentage of trains that were canceled.
- Average delay: The average delay of all non-canceled trains in minutes.
- Monthly trips: The total number of train journeys in a month.
- Monthly train stops: The total number of train stops in a month.
- Active stations: The number of active German stations in our dataset.
